Brad and I were fully committed to our three mile run last night. We both got off work a little early to make sure we had plenty of time to get it accomplished. Poor Brad is still having knee issues and had to stop several times. I haven’t felt like using my Garmin lately, so I have no idea how long it took us to run three miles.
Since we live Uptown with all those tall buildings, Garmin takes super long to find the satellites. This means that once we get outside, pumped up to run, we have to wait and wait, sometimes as long as 15 minutes before Garmin is ready to join us on our run. Sometimes it’s just easier to map out our runs and forget about time.
I encouraged Brad to do the quad muscle building exercises his sports medicine doctor recommended, after our run. While he worked on this, I did two circuits, which I repeated 2 X a piece, as usual. The first circuit included one upper body exercise, two lower body exercises, and one ab exercise. For the second, I did two upper body exercises, one lower body, and one ab exercise.
Diner was quick, easy, and eaten in two courses. While Brad had a bunch of leftovers, I made a breakfast sandwich with an English muffin, a perfect egg, spinach, a Laughing Cow, and an avocado.
This never gets old. Seriously, I could eat it every single day.
While eating my sandwich, I roasted some broccoli in the oven, which I topped with ketchup. Brad and I split this. I’m so glad I introduced him to roasted broccoli. He really likes it! 🙂
Did we shower before eating? No. Instead we sat on the floor and watched the latest episode of Jersey Shore while eating dinner.
Clearly, Ronnie and Sammy’s break up aftermath is way more important than showering. I could have showered afterwards like Brad, but I didn’t. I’m probably way too comfortable being grimy, for my own good.
Since Brad’s parents are visiting this weekend, I was on a mission to clean. So I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned.
Now our kitchen sparkles.
Brad also helped me fold a load of laundry as well as cleaned the bathroom. I washed and dried two more loads of laundry as well. When you’re active, you have easily twice the amount of clothes to wash as inactive people. The only down side, if you ask me.
Did I also mention that while all this was going on, I roasted my very first chicken? Just call me Susie Homemaker, because that’s what I felt like last night.
The chicken turned out perfectly (I had two bites before putting it away in the fridge) and will be excellent for meals later on in the week. I can’t wait to make Brad’ green curry chicken salad. It’s one of my most favorite things he’s ever made for me and I haven’t had it in forever.

I’ll announce the winner of the Tropical Traditions coconut flakes in my next post, so come back later today to find out who won.
Was that the chicken from Earth Fare? I’ve never roasted a chicken before either, but I want to attempt it and I’m nervous! By the way, your kitchen really does sparkle!
It was! I’m going to post about it soon. Don’t be intimidated, it’s very easy. I just knew I was going to screw it up because I thought “it can’t be this simple”, but it was. 🙂
Thanks! You made me feel less intimidated. 🙂 I cannot wait to read your post!
I’ve never seen anyone put ketchup on broccoli before! If you like a little heat, try swapping out the ketchup for Sriracha. So, so good!
