We’re half way through the work week AND it’s time for What I Ate Wednesday.
Breakfast –
2 Van’s Whole Wheat Waffles with half a banana, 1 Tbsp. PB, a dollop of Greek yogurt, and a drizzle of real maple syrup.
Lunch –
Leftover seafood risotto atop a mountain of mixed greens
I also had an un-photographed Pink Lady apple.
Dinner –
For dinner, I met Brittney at 131 Main. I ordered the Thai Style Steak Salad: Asian noodles, cabbage, mint, fresh avocado, and mango.
For some reason I just assumed that since it was under “salads” on the menu, it would have some sort of lettuce base. Wrong!
This was really delicious, but a little more heavy on the noodles than I anticipated. I managed to polish off about 3/4 of it plus 1 1/2 glasses of Sauvignon Blanc.
And since we were just down the street from Menchie’s, my favorite fro-yo place, we just had to stop by. This was a bit larger than the fro-yo portions I usually help my self to, but in my defense, the chocolate pump got stuck and it took me a little while to figure out how to stop it. Poor me. 😉
Don’t worry. No fro-yo was wasted during the making of this post. I practically licked the container clean.
When you go to self-serve fro-yo places do you still to 1 or 2 flavors or do you get a little of almost everything? I’m physically incapable of only getting 1 or 2 flavors. My bowl had at least six flavors. 🙂
Lots of flavors is the way to go!
i hate it when they disguise salads like that. Still looks good though.
😉
Definitely lots of flavors! Especially if (a) I love a lot of the flavors they have that day or (b) I haven’t tried some of them!
I can never limit myself to choosing flavors either! At Yogurtland, I would get a mix of pistachio, coconut, red velvet, chocolate mint cookies, peanut butter, and cookies ‘n cream (if they had all those flavors available)! I keep all the flavors separate in my bowl though, so it doesn’t taste funky. I never understand how people get lots of flavors that don’t go together and mix them up… like tart and red velvet… weird.
Oh and I hate when salads lack actually leaves! That’s frustrating. Or when you pay a lot for a salad and the salad is on the world’s tiniest plate. I always think, I could have made this myself for way cheaper!
For some reason I think tart goes with everything, but PB is my absolute favorite. They haven’t had it at Menchie’s in weeks but I’m really loving their Mounds flavor right now.
ohhh my, yum. Your fro yo and toppings look awesome.
I love Menchies!! Definitely one of my favorite fro-yo places. I’m definitely a flavor mixer 😉
I had a VERY similar salad last week at Houston’s restaurant in North Dallas. It was very good, but I asked the server first if it had any lettuce (sort of, mixed in but no lettuce base).
For some reason, I have never put more than two flavors in my bowl. Now I am going to see how many I can fit in and still leave room for toppings.
Really? Girl, you’ve gotta try it! 🙂
The trick is just a bit of a bunch of flavors.
holy thai gorgeousness!!!! ahhh!
How are the Van’s waffles? Haven’t tried them yet but I always eyeball them in the grocery store.
I like them. I usually get the WW but I’ve tried the Light version too. Then again, anything covered in nut butter and maple syrup tastes good.
Oh yum, I love 131 Main! There is one up here in lake country, too. Always delicious!!
I love fro-yo! They are dangerous places though – I can never help myself to less than 3-4 flavors and about 10 different toppings! It always gets way more expensive than I expect, but it is one of the few things that I don’t feel bad about – it is SO good!
