Good planning

I had a late meeting last night, but lucky for me I packed my dinner along with my lunch.  After all…

Good luck is the result of good planning.

I’ve had this fortune from a fortune cookie taped to my work computer since the first week or two I came to work here.  I think I’m going to retire it when I leave on March 8, which is my last day.  I’ll just hope for another good fortune to come my way, and hopefully one that reinforces my crazy Type A behavior. 😉

So with two hours to kill before my 7 pm meeting, I kicked back, shut my office door, heated up my dinner…

and kicked off my shoes.

Dinner was so good thanks to more leftovers from this weekend.

Remember my second salad from Carpe Diem?  I put it in a whole wheat wrap along with the leftover chicken I didn’t eat that night and it made for some great leftovers.

I also packed up a container of carrots, red pepper slices, and celery along with an almost empty hummus container.

I was a bit chilly, as usual, so I had some hot lemon water with my dinner.  Water was consumed in great quantities yesterday, no doubt due to being slightly dehydrated from my very active weekend.

Later that evening, I scored a super short meeting.  Sixteen minutes, in fact.  That’s a record for me! It was my last meeting of this sort before I leave my current job.  Not a bad way to end. 🙂

I got home around 8:30 pm and packed my lunch, had a glass of wine with Brad, and watched an episode of Weeds.  We’re in season 5 and this particular episode was quite the cliffhanger.  I kind of wanted to watch the next episode to see what happens next,  but was intent on getting to bed early to get in a three mile run before work.

– Over at Nourishing the Soul, Ashley wrote about an interesting perspective on calories and where the calorie originated.  If you have ever counted calories, whether you had a good experience or not, this is a must-read.

– I found this article Beat Your Body’s Fat Traps beneficial, not because I need a new workout plan, but because it reinforces what I already know: you cannot exercise away fat, especially if you overcompensate with food. I already knew this in my head, but really learned this the hard way when it came to training for my first marathon.

– Keeping with the theme that “your physique has more to do with your diet than your exercise habits”, Janetha’s blog post Abs are Made in the Kitchen discusses food she introduced to her diet that helped transform her body.  I really like that her focus is on healthy additions, not restrictions.
