Christmas Eve and morning

Merry Christmas!  I’ve taken soooo many photos in the past two days, I’ve got so much to share!

First, one of the cool things about staying at Brad’s family’s house is that all of Brad’s artwork from high school is in “our” room.

Here is a portrait he did of Charles Lindburgh.  One day I’ve got to show you all of his portraits.  He really is so very talented.

Joy and I were busy making pies all afternoon long.

2 coconuts, 2 pecan pies, and 2 sweet potato pies

My pies turned out beautiful except my second one’s crust got a little burned.

I volunteered to whip up Christmas Eve dinner so I was a busy bee in the kitchen that evening as well.

Dijon white wine sauce with portabella mushrooms and onions to top chicken breasts

Roasted brussel sprout leaves made kale chip style with course salt and extra virgin olive oil

Roasted butternut squash with salt and EVOO

My go-to whole wheat biscuits

The brussel sprout leaves were tasty, but not quite as crisp as kale since the leaves are thicker and more fibrous.

My plate + vino

This morning, we woke up at about 7 am.  Well…Rascal and I woke up and persuaded Brad to wake up too.

We came downstairs to this.  Santa had come while we were sleeping. 🙂

Babies, uh, I mean Rascal gets to go first.

He really loves presents.

Rascal received a yummy peanut butter treat, which he scarfed down in seconds, and a few of his favorite bones.

I was next…

My present came in a Tiffany blue box. 🙂

Brad got me a pearl bracelet to match my pearl necklace he got me our first Christmas and the pearl earrings he got me as a wedding/birthday gift next year.  I love it! 🙂

Then we were onto Brad’s gift from me!

I gave him a really nice monogrammed robe.  He loves hotel robes/my robe/pretty much any excuse not to put on clothes when he gets out of the shower.

Rascal thinks the robe is comfy too.

Wally and Joy went last in the present opening line.  They gave each other a big new television and we gave them an Apple TV for Christmas.  An Apple TV allows you to stream Netflix over the TV, as well as movies and shows from iTunes.  Movies cost $4 and TV shows only cost $1.  Brad and I are thinking about getting one ourselves and getting rid of our very $$$ Direct TV bill.

We also received a lot of goodies, of the sweet persuasion, and money from Wally and Joy.  They are so generous!

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas!  🙂

Merry Christmas from the Davis family!
