I was super excited this morning because I had a run planned with Brittney and Cassie, (I hope that’s how you spell it!) who I was meeting for the first time.
Brad had running plans too so I made us some spelt bread toast, topped with organic crunch PB, and some banana.
I had a great time running with Britt and Cassie. It’s always better to run with friends and it was so nice to meet Cassie. We did six miles around the Myer’s Park and Dilworth neighborhoods. Cassie just started running about a month ago and is already up to about 8 miles as her longest run. I was so impressed!
I’m sure I sound obnoxious to all of you who are still living in the high 90’s but the weather here in NC right now is GORGEOUS! Don’t worry, we’ll be back in the 90’s again before fall is truly here.
Afterwards, we walked about two blocks to the closest Starbuck$ for some post run coffee. I had yet to have my first cup, so I needed caffeine stat.
Perfect post race liquids: water for hydration and caffeine for potential soreness. I ordered a tall Misto with skim milk, no sweetness.
Brittney photographed her coffee like a good blogger. 🙂
Cassie put up with our weirdness.
The guy at the next table was nice enough to humor us with a group photo, even though he was pretty perplexed by my camera.
After a small breakfast and a six mile run, I was pretty famished by the time I got home. I made a quick meal of leftover pesto orzo and grilled eggplant and peppers, with the last of last night’s salad and lime bubbly water.
Plus a little piece of jalapeño cornbread for good measure.
After lunch, Brad and I cleaned up our kitchen, which looked like a bomb went off in it. Now we’re off to a little pool party with my family in Gastonia.
Happy Labor Day!
