Will walk for frozen yogurt

This morning, Brad and I headed to church, only to return to home ravenous for lunch.  Turns out we probably should have put some nut butter on our baked oatmeal.  It didn’t have enough protein to hold us over very long.

For lunch I had another version of my Instant Indian with ingredients I had on hand.  I used a bed of mixed greens as my base then added TJ”s masala burgers.  I used the tomato artichoke sauce + some garam masala then topped it with the best part…curried yogurt (~1/4 cup).

Last night I started making spelt bread, using this recipe I got from Food and Wine. I basically used the same ingredients, but followed a completely different process based on an article I read about creating a starter for spelt bread.

Basically, I halved this recipe:

4 1/2 cups whole-wheat spelt flour, plus more for dusting
2 teaspoons fine sea salt (I used regular salt)
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 3/4 cups cool water
2 tablespoons honey

I let the dough rise all night (from 10 pm to 10 am), then made the other half and mixed the two. I allowed the dough to rise another three hours.  Then put it on an oiled pizza stone.  I kneaded the dough a bit and shaped it into a loaf.  I didn’t use a loaf because I wanted a more rustic look to my bread.

I baked at 400 degrees F for 25 minutes.  The recipe called for 35 minutes of baking, but 25 was just right for my loaf.

I shared a small sliver with Brad, to which he replied, “You should make bread more often”.  I thought I made some form of bread almost every weekend!

After several loads of laundry, we headed to another part of town close-by for a walk.

Rascal waited patiently in the back seat.  He just likes to “Go!”, he doesn’t care where we’re going.

We parked the car at Queens University.

It was such a gorgeous day!  What perfect weather we’re having right now!

After about a mile, we soon reached our destination…

Yoforia!  Of all the fro-yo places I’ve tried, I had yet to try the closest one to my home.

We took turns about going inside since we had Rascal with us.  By the time I got my yogurt Brad was nearly done with his.

I got the tart, PB, and chocolate hazelnut, topped with strawberries, raspberries, coconut, and just a smattering of chocolate chips.  Totally hit the spot!  Dare I say it’s better than TCBY?  Goodness knows it’s closer and more convenient.  I loved it!

This butterfly posed for a photo and then flew away.

We had a great time relaxing on our walk.  When we returned home, Brad and Rascal took a nap while I headed down to the condo gym for a quick strength training session.

I warmed up at 6.4 on the treadmill for five minutes then did two sets of two circuits for a total of 40 minutes.  My circuits were heavy on arms, but incorporated three different leg exercises (forward and backward stationary lunges and squats).  I also incorporated two stomach exercises per circuit.  Nothing too intense, but at least I worked up a good sweat.

I hurried upstairs afterward to quickly shower and whip up dinner for a small dinner party.  My friends Casey and King came over for dinner and games.  I’ll post the menu tomorrow.

Until then, I’m heading to bed.  Goodnight!
