I’m going to go ahead and apologize for the “just okay” photos. It was a little dark in this restaurant, which is good for mood, but not good for photography. I think using the flash can be disruptive in a restaurant so I usually opt not to, despite Brad’s prodding for me to use the flash. 😉

After Brad and I swung by the hospital to see my mom post surgery, we decided to go out for pizza and beer to celebrate my new job. We were just down the street from Hawthorne’s NY Pizza so I suggested we go there. I love local pizza places and Hawthorne’s has maybe the best in Charlotte, if you don’t count my homemade pizza pie. 🙂
Hawthorne’s also had really great beer and wine specials. Last night’s special was $2 any light beer. I asked for a Sam Adam’s and the whole table followed my lead.
My brother Wess, and his wife Jen, had already had dinner, but joined us for a beer and to watch us stuff our faces try out the cannoli.
Brad had a bright light beaming on his face and posed for an angelic photo, but decided to act normal at the last minute. He’s a wonderful guy, but he’s no angel. 😉
Brad and I ordered the veggie pizza. Some places really skimp on the veggies, but Hawthorne’s is very generous.
I loved all the spinach even though I definitely had to wrestle with the floss after eating two slices.
It was great to catch up with Wess and Jen. We’re currently mulling over Italian restaurants for Jen’s upcoming birthday. The first weekend in March is going to be all about celebrating birthdays. I took Wess and Jen out for their 21st birthdays and now it’s my cousin April’s turn.
Or maybe this is all an excuse to go to clubs I’m too old for. 😉
What was your 21st birthday like? Mine was pretty tame because my birthday always happened during finals in college. My friends were good sports and took me out to buy me drinks, but none of them really participated because they had exams the next morning. Lucky for me, I did not.
