This morning I made my house guests my favorite breakfast as-of-late, baked oatmeal. And with 342 apples still left to eat, who can guess what kind I made.
but this time with a dollop of apple butter. I need to savor this stuff, I’m going through it like I have three more jars.
Notice the gorgeous pottery mug? Last night at our friend Jason’s house for a cookout, I learned that Jason makes gorgeous pottery. He told Megan to take what we wanted and we might have made him regret it. I took two mugs and three bowls. Trust me, I wanted to take much more, but didn’t want to take advantage of his graciousness. His pottery is so beautiful. You’ll definitely be seeing more of it.
The baked oatmeal was just what we needed to power Megan and us through some Vinyasa Basics at Y2 Yoga. This was only my second class and I think I might make it a Sunday habit, although I did something weird to my left arm right above my bicep doing sun salutations. Ouch.
My smile says happy, but my hair says I’ve been through the wringer.
We showered quickly and headed to Frans Filling Station, only to find they were closed. 🙁
No matter. Crepe Cellar to the rescue. 🙂
Our favorite brunch spot is always open, but today was very slow due to the rainy down pour. I don’t mind the rain at all. It has really cooled down here. It’s marvelous.
Our brunch companions, Megan and Riley.
Brie and pesto fries
You know how I feel about pesto.
I didn’t stray far from my old favorite, Eggs Florentine. This time I got the smoked salmon crepe with gruyere, spinach, and egg. Basically Eggs Florentine + gruyere in a crepe instead of over English muffins, sans Hollandaise per usual. I had one of the crepes and a green side salad and called it a day. Definitely looking forward to leftovers. 🙂
Megan got the Ham and Gruyere wrap. She said it was delicious except the honey Dijon sauce was a bit sweet for her taste.
Brad got the Spinach and Mushroom Crepe + chicken. He liked it a lot and I can attest that it was very good.
Riley got Brad’s favorite crepe, the Queen City, which has roasted chicken, bacon, cheddar, and oven roasted tomato dressing.
We all sampled the purple slaw, trying to detect what was in it, and all deciding it had a heavy apple taste. I thought it was pretty sweet for slaw, but I was raised on the vinegar heavy variety.
Riley and Megan had been eying the Crepe Suzette since we got to Crepe Cellar and decided to order it for dessert. I had one bite and thought it was delicious, even if I am more of a chocolate or fruit girl. Too bad they were out of ice cream. I think they made up for it with extra whip creme. Just look at that snowy mountain.
I’m slowly trying to teach the population of Charlotte how to use my DSLR. It looks like I’m not the best teacher. Our waitress gets an A for effort.
After brunch we bid our guests goodbye. They had a long drive ahead of them. It was so good to see them and catch up. Brad and Riley have been friends since college and it’s so nice that we can hang out with another couple that we both mutually like so much.
