Travel food and early spring

Greetings from Durham, NC!  In case you missed it, I’m here for a conference for work.  I checked in around 9 am.  Luckily, they had a room ready for me.  I immediately closed the shades and took an hour nap.  I feel SO much better!

My room is comfortable…

…but it’s no 17th century Italian palazzo.

I am forever spoiled by the Palazzo Del Nicholini.

The conference doesn’t start until early afternoon, so I came well-prepared with lunch.  It’s a good thing too, because Brad took the car to his morning meeting and I was monstrously hungry when I woke up from my nap.

I packed hummus and goat cheddar on a bagel thin.

I also packed a sliced Pink Lady apple and two carrots.

I also brought along a tablespoon of coconut peanut butter for dipping fun.  I’ve never tried PB on carrots before, but after seeing it some umpteen times on blogs and the like, I had to try it.  Why haven’t I tried this before?  It’s so good.

I’m sure the extra deliciousness added by the coconut flavor in the PB didn’t hurt either. 🙂

Still a little empty feeling after lunch, I broke into the complimentary stash of Tazo tea.  The choice between earl gray and wild sweet orange was no contest.  I hate earl gray. I feel like I’m drinking ash steeped in what.  Eeew, it’s ashy! Plus, I’m more of a wild and sweet girl anyway. Haha.

Last, but certainly not least, I broke into my stash of bars for the trip.  You just can’t have two much peanut butter in one meal.  I think the coconut cream pie and the PB cookie flavors should get together and have a love child.  Or maybe I’ll just make PB macaroon nuggets.

In other news, I have another job interview on Monday.  Have I mentioned that I have been looking for a job since last March and have only had two interviews until last week?  When it rains, it pours, right?

Something to brighten your day:  In case you didn’t know, it’s Ground Hogs Day and the ground hog did not see his shadow! Yippee!  That means an early spring!

This is how I feel about the prospect of an early spring.

What are you looking forward to most about spring? Me? Evening runs in daylight, warm weather, light dresses, flip flops, ice cream, my birthday, the smell of flowers and growing herbs at our new house.  Lovely. 🙂
