Breakfast this morning was Brad’s request: 30 minutes oats. Actually, he requested overnight oats, because he hasn’t figured out that I’m never going to actually make them the night before.
For two people I mixed up: 2/3 cup of European plain yogurt (not Greek) and 2/3 cup raw rolled oats. I didn’t add almond milk initially, because TJ’s European yogurt is not as thick as Greek so I wanted to ere on the side of caution so my 30 minute oats would not turn out too runny.
I add up adding a splash of almond milk, probably less than 1/4 of a cup, the also added 1/2 a sliced banana. Toppings included shredded coconut, cocao nibs, and TJ’s sunflower butter.
Yum! I like 30 minute oats better each day. I’m so glad we have found a way to enjoy oats together. 🙂 Cheesy, but true. Making two breakfasts is a pain in the butt and Brad forgets to make breakfast for himself. I cannot imagine skipping breakfast. The horror. 😉
Brad asked me if I would allow our kids to have cacao on their breakfast and I said “of course!”. Cacao is basically chocolate before you add the sugar and fat. It’s rich in antioxidants. In fact, it has more than red wine.
After breakfast we headed down to the treadmills to make up for the three miles we didn’t run yesterday. I slept poorly (again) last night so I wasn’t feeling great and neither was Brad.
I ran just over 10 minute miles to finish just under 30 minutes. Brad and I kept about the same pace. Hopefully, we’ll feel better tomorrow for our slightly longer run and even better for our “long run” on Sunday.
I’m signing off for the rest of the day. I have somehow let the day slip away from me and haven’t had a lot of time to write. Brad and I are off to have dinner with some good friends. My contribution to our little dinner party: black bean brownies and white wine. Recipe for the brownies coming soon! 🙂
Happy weekend! 🙂
