Looking back on 2010

2010 has been a crazy year for me.  So much has happened!

Most importantly, Brad and I got married.

We honeymooned in Italy.

We bought a historic house and are currently in the process of renovating it…slowly.

I made a lot of new friends in Charlotte.

I started training for my first marathon, which I will run on January 9 and did two 20 milers, my longest distance yet.

I also went to San Francisco, San Jose, and to D.C. two times, once for a wedding and once for Brad’s Christmas party.

I was invited to be on a podcast, and hopefully will have more opportunities like this in 2011.

I’m looking forward to 2011.  It should be a year of many changes.
Things I’m looking forward to….

1. Completing our new kitchen in our new house and moving in.
2. Completing the Disney World Marathon.
3. Getting a new job closer to Charlotte (my fellowship runs out in July so this is not an option!)

I don’t have any real resolutions for 2011.  I had a few in 2010 that I didn’t complete because I got so busy with wedding planning, marathon training, and working on our new/old house.  One of my biggest goals in life and especially in the upcoming year is to continue to move towards a balance.  A balance between work and play, healthy food and indulgences, exercise and rest.  I know I’m entering 2011 with a better understanding of how all these things affect me physically and mentally, but applying them to every day is a challenge for me.  I don’t know if I ever reach the pinnacle of a perfect balance, but I like to think that as long as I’m moving forward and making progress, I am a little healthier and a little happier than I was before.

Rather than setting a specific goal for the new year, I’m going to focus on a challenge just for the month of January, which I will address tomorrow morning.

Happy New Years Eve!
