Last night after work, I made the drive down to Fort Mill, SC to run and have dinner with Brittney. About an hour before I left work, I got an email that the area was under a tornado watch. Why are my evening running plans always plagued with bad weather? If we’re ever in a drought, I’m just going to make a running date. It’s better than a rain dance. 😉
Rascal was along for the ride.
We left Rascal and Brittney’s dog, Clyde, with her husband Greg while we headed out for a run.
I brought several different options for running clothes because the weather forecast was kind of “iffy” when I left for work that morning. I decided on shorts and a long sleeve water-wicking shirt.
It seemed like every time we turned a corner, the weather felt completely different. It was humid, clammy, and drizzly, then it would be windy and cool. I couldn’t tell if I was sweating or just getting wet from the humidity and rain.
I felt bad because Brittney was having one of those infamous bad runs that we all have every once in a while. You know, those runs where you legs feel like lead and you feel like your battery isn’t charged. She powered through it like a champ and we were able to get in just over 5 miles by making laps around her neighborhood in the dark.
We changed and then I watched Brittney assemble our dinner.
Stir-fry was on the menu de jour.
Clyde wore Rascal out chasing him around the house. I know he was super tired because he decided to rest on a chair, rather than beg for food in the kitchen.
Meanwhile Clyde was still jumping around like a puppy, ever the limitless ball of energy.
Brittney’s stir-fry had tempeh, red bell pepper, carrots, bok choy, spinach, onions, toasted sesame oil, hoison sauce, and potentially some other things that I didn’t see. Click over to her blog for a better idea of the ingredients.
I had this, plus about 1/2 a cup more. It was delicious and totally hit the spot after a sweaty run.
We also split a Magic Hat. I *think* this was a winter seasonal brew. Darker than what I usually drink but very good.
Brittney was a great hostess and running buddy. I left her place around 8:30 pm so I could get home, shower, and stick to my super early bed time, right after a bowl of cereal of course.
Oh cereal. You are my friend and my enemy.
