Okay, so maybe it was the day before Halloween. But I’m pretty sure all adults with no little ones celebrated Halloween on October 30 just like Brad and I did.
I was so super tired on Saturday night. I did a really sub par job taking photos…both quality and quantity. By the time Brad and I got to Diana’s Halloween Party, I was exhausted from my 16 mile run with no resting and more importantly, I was starving.
I just wanted to take my photos and grab a big plate of party food…little did I know that my camera was on the wrong setting. But I kinda think the dark orange-y glow gives it a more Halloween-y feel.
The food was ah-mazing!
Roasted acorn squash
hummus and veggies
My contribution, half devoured: spinach artichoke dip (I used this Alton Brown recipe), crostini, and blue corn chips
Other good eats: olives with little bug legs, meatballs, quinoa, tempeh, and some other stuff I’m sure I’m forgetting.
But let’s get to the important part: dessert. I had my eye on these chocolate spider cupcakes as soon I arrived.
I split this plate with Brad. Besides the cupcake there were chocolate chip cookies, brownies, pumpkin bread and a strawberry dip.
Bailey entertained us with tricks.
We were quite the cast of interesting characters.
Katie and Stew, Nicole, Caitlin and Kristien, Brad and I, Brittney and Greg, Kate and Nate, Diana and Jen
After the party at Diana’s, Brad and I headed out to Growler’s Pourhouse to meet up with some friends. I regret not taking more photos, but I was soooo tired at this point. I did break my “no alcohol” month and had one glass of wine. But I’m still calling it a success because it was a special occasion and if I want one glass of wine, I should have one right?
Mine and Brad’s costume was the red team from Double Dare. Besides hard hats and safety goggles, we also played it safe with some knee pads and red track pants. We got a lot of attention from people our age who remembered the show. Who didn’t love Double Dare?
Other people in throw-back 90’s costumes wanted to take pictures with us and I wish I had the presence of mind to get their photo too. We took pictures with two girls dressed like Madonna in her material girl phase and two really funny girls dressed up like female Urkels. Don’t tell me you don’t remember him.
Brad also had a great time with our friend Jamie whose costume was “guy who had just lost his contact”. They are hilarious.
So, I completely missed my blog-iversary. I finally realized that I had passed the one year mark because I remembered blogging about last Halloween. Wow! A year has gone by so fast!
What were you for Halloween?
