And gosh it feels good to be home! Everything was just as I remembered it (almost). Brad was just as handsome and goofy. Rascal was just as cute and cuddly. My bed was just as comfortable. BUT, my kitchen left a lot to be desired. My fruit bowl contained two sweet potatoes and two sad looking clementines. It definitely is not as well-stocked as usual, but at least all of the appliances were there at my disposal.
Thanks goodness for the Chobani fairy and frozen waffles and fruit.
Two whole wheat frozen waffles drizzled in ~1 Tbsp. almond butter and a bit of maple syrup, a plain Chobani with melted raspberries, plus some Good Earth cocoa chai tea and almond milk.
My tea is way more inspirational than a fortune cookie or a Dove promise.
After breakfast, I headed downstairs to the condo gym for a much needed sweat session. I have a long run planned on Saturday so I’ll be cross-training for the next two days. This morning I did something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time…one of the Fitnessista’s bootcamp workouts. I’ve incorporated some of the moves I have seen on her bootcamps before, but I have never actually followed through with an entire workout plan. This was actually intended to be a bridal bootcamp. Is there a statute of limitation on being a bride? I say once a bride, always a bride.
This workout was awesome and definitely had me glowing sweating, as well as huffing and puffing during some parts. I used 10 lb. weights for supersets 1-3, then 5 lbs. on superset 4, as well as the bent over flies and dumbbell raises. For the first cardio blast I only ran at 5.3 miles per hour because that incline for five minutes was serious. For the second cardio blast I alternated between 6 miles per hour and 8 miles per hour.
I usually do a video to help me focus because if I do strength training on my own I just wander around doing exercises randomly as I think of them and probably give up way too soon. I obviously have strength training ADD. I am a little burned out on videos since I did them religiously before the wedding. Since returning from the honeymoon, I haven’t been able to get into them. This was a nice change of pace and the fact that it was all laid out for me helped me to focus on getting it done (read: no wandering aimlessly).
Gina (aka: The Fitnessista) intends to post a new workout once a week. I’m going to try to do each of them at least once a week, if not more, so we’ll see if this helps me get back into the cross-training groove.
