Kitchen browsing

I don’t know what was wrong with me yesterday but I got unusually hungry for a snack around 2:30 pm.  Maybe a lack of carbs and protein at lunch?  I had several options I contemplated.

1. Dig into the free cookies in the hallway leftover from a bake sale
2. Eat my fish taco that I was saving for tomorrow’s lunch
3. Raid the snack machine
4. Go hungry and pay later (maybe you don’t pay later, but I always do)

Then I remembered that a coworker always offers me popcorn that she keeps stashed in her office.  So I had the afternoon snack of champions, 100 calorie popcorn bag and Diet crack coke.  I’m pretty sure the fake butter and fake sugar took years off my life.

That would be sarcasm people, although I’m sure there are more intense people who actually believe that.   Years I didn’t lose, but this didn’t do much to subside the hunger monster and left me feeling pretty lethargic come quitting time.

I was super ravenous when I got home from work, so get ready for some random eating.

I was hoping for some leftover meal of Beaufort boil, but what I found in the fridge was a leftover snack of Beaufort boil.

Lack of protein in my past meal had not been working out for me, so I remedied this with some 2% Fage and TJ’s organic chunky PB with a little drizzle of honey.  PB and yogurt are such a good combination, why oh why is there no PB flavored yogurt?

My raging sweet tooth got the best of me and I had dried mango, lots and lots of dried mango.  This picture x 4 to be exact.  My house is now dried mango free thank goodness…because I ate it ALL.

The rest of the night I spent dreaming of a new kitchen and looking at some design ideas.  I haven’t mentioned much about our new house because we haven’t closed on it just yet.  Our “new house” is actually a new old house, which I absolutely love.  I’ve always dreamed of owning an old house with old charm.  The cool thing about this house is that although it’s totally livable, it’s going to take some work to make it somewhere that is comfortable for us (and for little ones eventually).  And, because it’s going to need some renovation to be comfortable for us, we have the opportunity to do some real design work in making this place, not just comfortable, but making it reflect us…our personal style and our lifestyle.

In case you have never seen my kitchen…

this is it.  It’s modern and has nice appliances and I really love it.  It’s like no other kitchen I’ve ever had.

But, this new house gives Brad and I the opportunity to really think about what we want and what style truly reflects us.  Luckily we have similar tastes, but more challenging, we have extremely specific taste.   We must have looked at 500 different kitchens online last night.

We are leaning towards a more traditional style kitchen.  Here are two of my favorites and why I like them.

I love…

1. the chandelier
2. the color and style of the cabinets
3. the hood/mantle over the stove

I love…

1. THIS ISLAND!!! (I love how substantial it is)
2. I love the darker counter tops (over the white ones in the first photo)
3. I love the herringbone tile back splash (although perhaps not in white)

As much as I love the whiteness of these kitchens, my kitchen  has to have a little more color on the walls.  Otherwise, these photos might become my kitchen inspiration if I don’t completely change my mind before renovations start.

The rest of the evening was spent cuddling with these guys and sipping a little wine.  You have got to look classy while you watch Jersey Shore if only to save your dignity.  Just sayin’.

If you could design your own kitchen, what would be your kitchen’s style?  Traditional, Modern, European, Open, etc. etc.
