The Crepe Cellar with good friends

Yesterday afternoon flew by with all my little tasks to prepare for the wedding.  Before I knew it, it was 5 pm and I had to get my tail to the gym or I was going to miss out on yet another workout.

I did a quick 4.5 miles (including cool-down) in a little over 40 minutes.  When I run on the treadmill, I rarely run on 0% incline.  Today, as usual, I put it on Hill mode – level 3, which alternates between a hill and flat incline each minute.  The hills range between 0.6 and 2.9% incline.  I feel like this is more realistic to running outside.

After my workout, I quickly showered and got ready to go to dinner at Crepe Cellar with friends.  We had friends just arrive this afternoon from Seattle and NY.  Our other friends, Jon and Heather from San Francisco, have been here for a few days, but we have been so busy we haven’t met up with them yet.  They joined us too.

Remember the last time I went to Crepe Cellar for brunch? Man, their brunch is fantastic!

When we first arrived, we found Heather and Jon.  Heather is expecting a baby girl in November.  Her and baby had found a seat and were enjoying some french fries.  Jon just bought a DSLR so I asked him for some advice.  We played around with my camera some taking shots of everyone.

Look closely and you’ll see I’m starting to glisten with sweat.  It was really hot in Crepe Cellar.  I wondered all night if their AC was broken.

Andrew and Libby from NY.

Heather and Brad

Samantha from Portland and David from Seattle…this was our first time meeting Samantha and she was really cool and friendly.

I had this Portuguese Nopa Vine Verde x 2 over the course of the night.  It was delicious and almost effervescent.  I don’t know if it was because I was so thirsty but this wine was so delicious.

The table split the buffalo oysters.  These are so yummy.  My friend Sandy always request that we got to Crepe Cellar just for these oysters when she’s in town visiting.  Don’t be jealous Sandy.  You’ll be here in a few days. 🙂

I had one.

I also had one of these sauteed garlic shrimpies.

I  didn’t stray too far outside of my comfort zone tonight and ordered what I had last time I was at Crepe Cellar for dinner – the mussels and the small house salad with red wine vinaigrette.  They have a different mussel special every night.  Tonight the mussels were cooked in basil, white wine, and shallots.  The broth was much lighter than the mussel broth I had last week at Dandelion Market.  Both were very tasty, just different.

I ate all of these little guys and about half of the bread. Nothing is better than sopping crusty French bread in delicious mussel broth.  Yum!

Brad had the seafood special – seared tun and grilled flank steak, cheddar grits with chili lime burre blanc.  The grits were delicious, but the meat (I tried the tuna) was too salty for my taste, as well as Brad’s.

One of my favorite things about Crepe Cellar is that when you order coffee, they give you a short French press.  This size serves about three small (~4 oz.) cups of coffee.  We ordered the decaf and I monitored the timer for a medium roast.  Each timer has a different amount of sand in it.  The green is for light roast, it runs out in 3 minutes; red is for medium, which is 4 minutes; the darker roast is the yellow, which takes 5 minutes to run out.

I love decaf coffee after dinner. Yum.  I should serve this more at home.

Who can resist dessert crepes at a place called the Crepe Cellar?  David and Samantha ordered the Nutella crepe with bananas and generously passed it around the table for all to partake.  As you can see, it has been tasted a couple of times before it reached me.  Delicious.  I think old dirty tennis shoes filled with Nutella would be good.

Dinner and conversation with friend was wonderful, even Libby and my 15 minute conversation about Excel spreadsheets and pivot tables…yep, nerds are the best! 🙂  We chatted for a while outside then turned in, making it to bed around 11 pm.

I’m up right now munching some toast and praying it doesn’t reach 90 degrees before 9 am.  I want to run!  But I also want to see Caitlin on the Today Show this morning.  She’s promoting her new book for Operation Beautiful.  Are you watching?

Agenda for the day:

-Run at least 6 miles (maybe more?)

– Fix my last sheet of place cards that I messed up yesterday

– Finish folding the clothes, dishes, and tidying up…we have 4 guests staying tonight!..Candace, my best friend and matron of honor, and her husband, plus my brother Wess and his wife, Jen.
