Happy Sunday morning! I just finished my first long run of my marathon training plan and am about to go join my mama at the pool.
Today’s first I’m a runner feature, is Lee of In My Tummy. I am a regular In My Tummy reader and love Lee’s down to earth personality and sense of humor. It’s no wonder I identify with her so much, after reading her answers to my Q & A, I thought that I would have answered these questions myself almost the exact same way!
Banana and peanut butter…check! Beer….check! Stress….check!

1. How long have you been running?
I started running a little bit in college, but didn’t really get serious about it until 2005, when I ran a half-marathon.
2. In how many races have you competed?
1 marathon, 8 half marathons, 2 15Ks and numerous 10K and 5Ks
3. What is your favorite pre-run fuel?
Banana and peanut butter on an English muffin.
4. What is your favorite post-run snack or meal?
Depending on the time of day, sometimes after a long run, I really want a cold beer.
5. Do you like running buddies or do you prefer to run alone?
I haven’t mastered the art of talking while I run, so I prefer to run alone, or with friends who don’t want to talk!
6. What’s your must-have object on a run?
Ipod. I have to run with music for sure.
7. What’s your favorite running outfit?
I usually wear a t-shirt and capris. I have a very hard time finding running shorts that don’t ride up. If you know of any, let me know! (And yes, I’ve tried Nike Tempos)
8. What’s your favorite race distance and why?
15K. It’s not a very popular distance, but I feel like it’s long enough to really feel like I’ve accomplished something but short enough that I don’t feel like I need to spend the remainder of the day on the couch.
9. What’s your pie-in-the sky running dream?
Sub 2 hour half-marathon. I’m not what you’d call a fast runner.
10. How has running changed or contributed to the person you are?
I tend to be a stressed out person. Running helps me alleviate that stress in a healthy way (unlike the beer mentioned in question 4!). It’s also taught me that I can accomplish anything that I want. If you’d told me ten years ago that I’d run that many races, I would have laughed in your face. I’m not a natural runner, running isn’t always easy for me, but it’s really taught me that sometimes it’s the hardest things that we do that are the most worthwhile. It’s also taught me to be a total cheeseball, apparently.

Lee, it was a pleasure to feature you today! Another trick to running with people when you don’t like to talk is to run with someone who loves to talk and doesn’t ask many questions so you can just listen. I’m pretty sure I fall into that category every once in a while. 😉
