A not-so-sweet dessert

Despite having some stomach issues yesterday, I was determined to pound out the short three miles my marathon training plan dictated on the treadmill.  Three miles is the amount I can usually talk myself into, even if I am not feeling 100%.

Unfortunately, when I arrived downstairs to our condo’s gym, every treadmill was being used.  Ug.  I messed around doing some abs and upper body exercises while I eagle-eyed the treadmills.  I don’t like doing this, but as soon as someone was done, I started hovering a bit.  I’ve had a treadmill snatched up from me on more than one occasion and I wasn’t in the mood to wait another 20 minutes.

I felt pretty good once I got going and managed to do 3 miles in a little over 28 minutes.

When I returned upstairs, I took a quick shower, and whipped together an even quicker dinner.  My stomach was really weird all day and I couldn’t stomach the thought of vegetables.  I just wanted comfort food, but I wasn’t extremely hungry.  I’m listening.

I settled on a breakfast sandwich for dinner: a perfect egg, a piece of turkey bacon, and some goat cheddar on a lightly toasted bagel thin.

This really hit the spot, but don’t worry, there was dessert.

I nuked about 1/2 cup frozen raspberries then mixed them with about 1/2 cup of the last of the TJ’s European yogurt.  Then I topped with a small handful of Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal and some cacao nibs.

I really love this combination, even though it’s not really a sweet combination.  It just looks like it is.  The cereal is really the only sweet part, but most of that is masked by the tartness of the raspberries and yogurt.  Cacao nibs are practically inedible if they’re not mixed with something else.  They’re nice and crunchy, but boy are they bitter.

I spent the rest of the evening packing for my trip to Durham.  Brad and I made plans to get up super early to take Rascal to my aunt’s house.  I got in bed a lot later than I planned so I’m hoping for a nap in my near future.  Technically, I don’t need to be present at the conference until 1:30 pm, but we are getting there super early so Brad can make it to his meeting on time.  Let’s hope I can for once take a nap in the middle of the day.

Happy middle-of-the-week!

Don’t forget to enter my coconut peanut butter giveaway!  Brad found my stash tried it for the first time this morning and he loved it.  I’m really enjoying all of your ideas about how you would use it if you won, but I’m especially loving the people who would dig right in with their finger. 😉
