Lizzie turns three

Saturday morning, I woke up around 6 am and really wanted a bowl of banana PB & J oats.

I think I went a little overboard with the jelly, but it hit the spot.  I really think there is something wrong with my rolled oats (maybe they’re stale?).  They just don’t absorb liquid the way they should.  It’s a good thing there’s not much more left.  I can’t stand to throw them out.  Maybe they would work well with some yogurt for overnight oats.

I picked up some really good Christmas-y coffee at TJ’s the other day.  It’s very gingery and I like it. 🙂

I’m campaigning for wife of the year award so I made Brad breakfast when he woke up 2 1/2 hours after me.  I made an egg scramble with peppers, goat cheese, onions, and spinach with a piece of Ezekiel toast on the side.

Brad tried the new gingerbread coffee and liked it as well.  🙂 Score! I was afraid he wouldn’t like it.

Because we decided to move our long run until Sunday, I wanted to get in a good workout, but not overdo it.  My arms and shoulders were crying from my arm circuit the day before.  I decided to do three circuits broken up with some bursts of running.  I didn’t push myself too hard on the speed or the weights.  I didn’t want to overdo it.

I did each circuit twice, before transitioning to the five minute cardio.

Walking Lunge with bicep curl x 15 on each leg (7 lbs.)
Side bend x 20 (15 lbs.)
Bicycles x 50
5 minute Cardio: Alternating every minute: 6.0 mph, then 7.5 mph, repeat until time is up.
Squat with front raise x 20 (5 lbs.)One leg dead lift x 20 (10 lbs.)
30 scissors (left, then right is 1 rep)
5 minute Cardio: Start at 6.0 mph, each minute increase by 0.3 until time is up.
Sumo squat with lateral raise x 20 (5 lbs.)
Deadlift with upright row x 20 (15 lbs.)
40 reverse crunches
5 minute Cardio: Switch each minute – 6.0 mph, 6.5 mph, 7.0  mph, 6.5 mph, 7.5 mph
Step-ups
with hammer curls x 20 (7.5 lbs./5 lbs. – second time)
Side plank held 45 seconds on each side
Plank held 60 seconds

At some point, my stomach told me I needed lunch so I made this huge salad of mixed greens, carrots, cherry tomatoes, avocado, turkey, a boiled egg, celery, and a couple teaspoons of Earth Fare’s sesame goddess dressing.

We had big plans that afternoon for a little girl’s birthday party.  My best friend’s daughter, Lizzie, was turning three.

We had heavy hoer d’oeuvres, which included three delicious dips, chips, and plenty of cupcakes.

The birthday girl insisted on a lot of pink, especially pink strawberry cupcakes.

Brad loves this recipe for spinach artichoke dip, so I knew it would be a hit at the party. I follow the recipe almost exactly, except I used Chobani Greek yogurt instead of sour cream, I use 8 oz. of whipped cream cheese (instead of 6 oz. of regular) AND I bake the dip for 30 minutes at 350 degrees so it gets nice and brown on top.

Candace’s guacamole was delicious!

Lizzie totally racked up!  Brad and I gave her the cutest little outfit and two books.  She loves books. 🙂

Isn’t she precious?  She had no trouble blowing out her candle…

…or any trouble digging in to her cupcake. 🙂

I got distracted socializing and never picked up my camera after this.  I had a little bite of each dip, a couple of glasses of wine.  Later we ordered pizza and I had three slices of the supreme.  Brad and I made it home at about 10:30 and went straight to bed totally exhausted.

Who am I? I used to be able to stay up waaaay later on a Saturday night.
