Martinis and chocolate for breakfast

I’m finding new uses for peanut flour.

This morning, I used in in my smoothie.

Since it has a lot of protein and no added sugar, it’s a good substitute for protein powder.  Plus it tastes like peanut butter when added to food, although it doesn’t really taste like peanut butter when eaten by itself.

In my Vitamix went:

1 cup almond milk
1 frozen banana
~ 1 cupish of frozen spinach
1/4 cup peanut flour

And that’s all folks.  I kept it simple this morning.

Instead of the smoothie, I opted for a mint chocolate martini for breakfast.  Just kidding. 😉  Smoothies taste better when they’re in a pretty glass.

Another great find at the Earth Fare: grind-your-own dark chocolate peanut butter.  Who says martinis and dessert peanut butter and chocolate isn’t for breakfast?

I’m back to coffee today.  I did a little experiment on myself while I was away in San Jose.  I believe everything in moderation (well most things) are A-okay.  However, recently I’ve been wondering if I’m a little too dependent on coffee.  Turns out I had nothing to worry about.  I drank tea all but one day (mostly green tea) and found that the lack of caffeine didn’t affect me at all.  Green tea has 15 milligrams of caffeine versus 115-175 for drip coffee.  I also drank Chai which has about 45-50 calories.  Still significantly less than coffee.  I’m not cutting coffee out completely (obviously), but I’m going to try tea more.  After drinking it all last week, I find that I really like it, especially when it’s cold.

What about you, are you a coffee or tea person?
