A tough 10 miles

This morning I had a 10 mile run planned with Jen so I geared up with a PB and banana sandwich on a TJ’s toasted sandwich thin.

For some reason my brain registered Girl Scout PB cookie while eating this.  I think it was because of the crispiness of the sandwich thin and the PB of course.  Weird, but so good.

The plan for my run was to meet Jen, halfway through her 20 miles to run the last 10 miles with her.  She’s intense!  But, with marathon training, I know I’ll be there in several weeks too. Many several weeks.

Even though the terrain was pretty flat, I really had to push myself the past three miles of this run…maybe because Jen is super fast so I was really pushing myself to not slow her down.  But we finished with a lot of gasps of breaths between “we can do this!” from Jen and I.  I was pretty amazed that Jen could finish a 20 mile run so strong.  I think I’ll be on the brink of dying when I finish 20, but I’m not melodramatic at all.

Jen showing the 2-0.

So glad to be done with my 1-0.

It was so nice to be done and to have a friend to talk to through the entire run!

My stomach started growling around mile seven so I knew I was not going to make it home without dropping my Starbuck$ just down the street.  I chose a Misto since I had yet to have my daily intake of caffeine.

And for my growling tummy, the spinach, tomato, and egg white wrap.  So good, especially when you’re starving.

I rushed home to get ready, because my best friend, Candace, was coming to spend the day with me.  I showered quickly and was just getting out when she arrived.  Candace’s birthday is next weekend, but she’ll be at the beach, so we’re celebrating today with a girls day.

We hung out and looked at photos of the honeymoon and pub crawl for a while, then around 1 pm I got hungry for lunch.  I had a pumpkin smoothie and a piece of spelt toast with jam.

My smoothie had:

-1/2 cup Greek yogurt
-1/3 cup pumpkin
-1/2 cap vanilla extract
-1/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
-1/4 tsp. cinnamon
– 3 scoops of TJ’sStevia (3/8 tsp.)

So good and pumpkin-y!

Brad was sweet enough to make Candace a soft taco while he made his own.  I think we sold her on the homemade whole wheat wraps.   The tortilla press industry should hire me as their spokesperson.

Candace and I had big plans to lay out by the pool today but the weather has not been cooperative.  We’re on to plan B.

Happy Saturday!
