Pre-bootcamp Pancakes

Last weekend I went to my first bootcamp ever and it was a lot of fun! But first, here’s a breakfast recap.

Peach and blue berry whole wheat pancakes. I used Hodgson Mill’s Whole Wheat pancake mix. I used 1/2 cup and added 1 small sliced peach and a big handful of blue berries + a scant 1/2 cup of skim milk and 1 egg.

…topped with almond butter syrup (1/2 Tbsp. AB + a generous squirt of sugar free syrup). I avoid sugar free stuff usually, but want to use this sf syrup up before buying anything else.

Now, back to bootcamp. It was from 8:30 -10 am and included some running, turbo kick, drills, grassy stairs running, aerobic dance, and a bit of abs. Between the humidity and butt-kicking workout, I was super sweaty and gross. I especially liked the aerobic dance part. Dancing is something I love to do regardless of how exhausted I am. I can hang with a lot of various exercise varieties, but I was in no danger of winning the push-up competition. Even with my knees down for “girl” push-ups, I didn’t stand a chance. I’ve been neglecting weight training the past couple of weeks and my arms are definitely not as strong as when I was doing P90X.

Overall, it was a lot of fun and a great workout. I really enjoy working out in a group but this was even more fun than classes I attend at the gym because everyone was friendly and talkative. I’ll definitely try this again when I have a free weekend morning…which will definitely be after my wedding in August.

When people talk about weddings being stressful, you never really understand until you’re in the thick of it yourself. I’m hanging in there and I have my eye on the prize.
