A new Mellow Mushroom

Yesterday, I went and got my hair cut (finally!) and then did some grocery shopping at TJ’s.

Putting groceries away builds up an appetite so I had a bowl of the most delicious yogurt concoction.  I had about 2/3 cup 2% Greek yogurt, half a sliced banana, and a few Tbsp. of TJ’s sweet, salty, and tart trail mix.

This stuff should be called crack mix.  It has chocolate chips, butterscotch chips (love love), dried cranberries and golden raisins, peanuts, cashews, and almonds.  I’ve got to put this stuff in individual serving sized plastic bags, else Brad is going to find me laying in the floor with an empty bag, smelling like butterscotch.  😉

After some laundry and blogging stuff, we set out for dinner.  I was dying to try the new Mellow Mushroom in the Myers Park neighborhood.  I LOVE Mellow Mushroom and have eaten at the one in Chapel Hill (now closed) , Boone, and Raleigh.  I figured the night before a BIG long run is the perfect time to try out the new pizza place in town.

Mellow Mushroom uses really great ingredients to make the most delicious pizzas.  The cater to omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans with plenty of protein options.  I love how every Mellow Mushroom has a very hippie feel.

The Charlotte location is no exception.

You can actually eat inside of a hippied-out school bus.  Right on.

I haven’t seen a lava lamp in a really long time.  These stretched the entirety of the bar’s wall.

Brad and I both had an Allagash White. I forgot how delicious these are. Did I mention Mellow Mushroom also has a very extensive beer list?  Well, it does.  I kept it to just one because I had a 20 miler (my first ever!) in the morning.

Hallelujah! My hair looks so much better since Stephanie at Modern Salon cut off all the damaged hair.  It feels waaaaay better.

Nicole and Isaac met us for dinner.  🙂

We admired the decor.

We took couple’s photos again once we found better lighting.  Nicole and I think restaurants should really design their lighting for optimal photo taking for food bloggers.  Just kidding.  😉

I call this my turtle neck pose.  I can also pull my head into my sweater when I feel threatened.

Brad and I ordered the Kosmic Karma: spinach, sundried tomatoes, roma tomatoes, and pesto.

There are no words.

I had this X 3.  I can’t believe I took three pieces down without feeling stuffed, but oddly enough, I didn’t.

And in celebration of the new Mellow Mushroom and my long run, I leave you with this quote.

If I’m free, it’s because I’m always running.
