Loathsome run

Last night I had plans to run six miles right after work.  I even stayed late to map out my run.  During the commute home it started to pour, but even though it was only drizzling by the time I reached Charlotte, the flood warning I heard on the radio was enough to take my run inside.

I was already dressed for running so I threw my things down at home, grabbed three dark chocolate edamame (deadly!) and a small handful of pretzels and headed downstairs…only to find that all four treadmills in our condo gym were taken.  🙁

When  you only have 3 1/2 hour evenings, time is precious so I knew I couldn’t wait around for one of them to finish.  I headed back upstairs to grab a light dinner.  You know, one that would leave me full but not wanting to barf five minutes into my run.

Enter my leftover smoke salmon crepe from Sunday night and some re-roasted okra fries.

I also ended up eating a few more un-pictured pretzels about 4 or 5 more pieces of dark chocolate edamame.  Sweet and salty gets me every time.

Around 7:30 I headed back down to the treadmills and pounded through a brutal 6 miles.  Not brutal because it was running, but because it was running on a treadmill.

I loathe running on a treadmill.

Thank goodness for music that gets me through the mind numbing repetitive chore of running on a tread mill.  Right now, I’m loving Careful by Paramore, which is probably my favorite running song.  It just happened to come on when I was about to mentally lose it.

The rest of the night was spent showering, packing lunch, watching the kind of TV that kills brain cells (the DVR saved the new Jersey Shore for me :)) and…

prepping for tomorrow night’s dinner.

Here’s a hint of things to come.

Question: Any songs you’re especially loving right now when running or exercising in general?  My runs are getting longer so my play list needs to grow too.
