Raw beauty

Yesterday after a quick six mile run on the treadmill, I met Brittney, Erin, and Danielle for lunch at Luna’s Living Kitchen.

Erin is so sweet! She brought us all jars of homemade granola, which tastes like macaroons in granola form.  So yum!

I’m on a quest to try everything on Luna’s menu so I ordered the new-to-me Spout it Out Loud.

Local greens, avocado, and sprouted beans tossed with our hemp dressing.

This dish tasted incredibly fresh and delicious. I really loved the dressing, which I think had some tahini in it.  Yum!  I left the pineapple and shared a little bit with Erin.  People think I’m crazy, but I just don’t like pineapple.  It’s one of very few things I don’t like.

I also snapped a photo of Brittney’s delicious looking soup + salad combo.

She decided that I didn’t have enough to eat and shared some of her bread with me.  It was crunchy like it had been toasted and was sweet with nuts and dried cranberries…more dessert-like than most breads I’ve had served with lunch, but  very good.

Note to self: Kelly, please do something with your nails.  They are unsightly.

I really love Luna’s Living Kitchen and enjoy trying the raw menu items.  They’re so pretty and inventive; it makes me wonder if I could make things like this.  I have read a lot about the benefits of raw food diets, and although I have no desire to go raw, the creative side of me just wants to see if I can actually prepare some of these gorgeous dishes.

I had a great time meeting Erin and Danielle for the first time, plus it’s always great to hang out with Brittney.

After lunch I hit up sales at the mall, making a few spring-time purchases.  Then, I rushed back home to get ready for dinner out with the family for family birthday celebration #2 of the weekend.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend! 🙂
