Pin to Win with Harris Teeter + Peppermint Mocha Recipe + Gift Card Giveaway

Peppermint Mocha

The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year. And this year it seems so much more special as Brad and I are preparing for Elliott’s very first Christmas. He’s too little to remember any of this, of course, but everything is just so much more fun with a baby (except maybe 7 hour car trips).

Even still, I’ve had a lot of fun this past week looking up holiday recipes and pinning them to my #SeasonsEatings Pinterest Board.  And I can’t wait until we are able to create memories with Elliott that he’ll remember. I’m sure some of those memories will involve making and enjoying favorite holiday recipes.

If you love seasonal recipes as much as I do, especially during the holiday season, I want to tell you about an opportunity to share your love of holiday goodies using my favorite way to waste time: Pinterest.

Harris Teeter is running a Pin to Win contest, with tons of awesome prizes up for grabs, which you can win, just by using Pinterest.

Here’s how you can enter to win:

Harris Teeter's Seasons Eatings Contest

To get started, check out Harris Teeter’s collection of holiday recipes, as well as my #SeasonsEatings Pinterest Board .

And here’s one recipe to get you started — my Peppermint Mocha recipe!

Peppermint Mocha

Peppermint Mocha
(Serves 2)
This chocolatey and minty drink is part beverage and part dessert!
12 oz. double strength coffee (See Notes)
2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
4 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon peppermint extract
whip cream (optional)
crushed soft peppermint candies (optional)

Pour coffee into a medium sized pot over medium heat. Whisk in cocoa powder, sugar, milk, and extract. Continue to stir 2-3 minutes until liquid is hot. Pour into a mug and top with whip cream and crushed soft peppermint candies.

Make coffee as you normally would, but use twice as much coffee. For every 6 ounces, I use a Tablespoon, so for this recipe I would use 4 Tablespoons for 12 ounces.

To help you craft your very own #SeasonsEatings recipe, Harris Teeter has generously offered to give away a $25 gift card to one of my readers.

To enter, simply leave a comment below telling me your favorite holiday food to make or eat! I’ll draw a random winner on Friday, December 6.  Good luck!

I love my husband’s Dutch pastry that he makes with raisins and walnuts. It’s an old family recipe that comes all the way from Holland and it’s to die for.

I love, love, love my Mom’s broccoli casserole recipe. She has made it every single Thanksgiving (and often Christmas as well) for as long as I can remember. Last year, she gave me the very best gift – the original recipe card for the broccoli casserole, handwritten by my mom some 35 years ago. I know it sounds silly, but I treasure that recipe card 🙂

  10. I love gingerbread cookies.

  15. What a great contest – I’m on Pinterest all the time anyway, haha! 😉

When I was growing up my mom had this old Betty Crocker “Cooky Book” (apparently that’s how they spelled ‘cookie’ back in the day). At Christmas, my sisters and I would pour over the pages and pick one cookie each to make from the cookbook. When Jack was born my mom found a revised edition of the Cooky Book and gave it to me for Christmas. Now, my kids love looking through the cookbook too!

I love my mum’s food. I’m English but grew up in America. Now my mum lives in Ireland and every Christmas when I visit, we make a traditional roast, complete with Yorkshire Puddings and roast potatoes. Mmmmm! Roll on, Christmas…

  33. Katy

My Mom always makes Ice Box Cookies. Picture graham crackers topped with brown sugar, homemade icing, and butter 🙂 I’ve never heard of them from anyone but my Mom. And she got the recipe from my Granny. No wonder I have a sweet tooth 🙂

  34. Nicole

My favorite holiday food is what I lovingly refer to as “white trash food”. While not a politically correct term, it is meant to describe the simple, southern foods I grew up with and still love to enjoy at the holidays. Included are store bought white rolls in an aluminium tin, cranberry sauce from the can, and green beans, also from the can–Hanover is my favorite brand!

  35. Emily

I love my Grandmother’s snickerdoodles that my mother makes every year! They are lovely with a tall glass of milk 🙂

  36. Without a doubt my aunt pines’ ginger snaps. I am pretty sure that is what will be left for Santa this year!

  37. Caitlinhtp

    Pumpkin pie!

  38. My favorite holiday foods to make are turkey and sweet potato pie with a pumpkin swirl. My favorite food to eat during the holidays is fruit cake. It’s the one thing I can enjoy alone.

would it be possible to use mint extract instead of peppermint? please answer quick?

    • I’m so sorry. For some reason I get emails when people comment on my blog and sometimes I don’t. So I really apologize that I missed this. I don’t see why you couldn’t use mint instead of peppermint. I think that would be fine.
