Oh new boots.
I’ve been looking for the perfect boots for…well…forever. It’s hard to find the perfect looking, perfect fitting boots when you have substantial calves. I’m talking big calves. I have size 10 calves and size 6 feet. It can be quite problematic.
I imagine that I ended up with my gigantic calves when someone up in heaven grabbed the wrong pair of calves off the assembly line. The angel doing quality control must have taken the day off.
After reading J’s Everyday Fashion for a while and admiring her Baker’s Tate Boots, I had one thought.
Must. Buy. Those. Boots.
So I did.
They fit like a dream and I love them. They’re soft and buttery, are the perfect color of cognac, and somehow manage to stretch around the calves that were meant for a 6 foot tall woman.

What’s your most difficult piece of clothing to shop for? Jeans are the most difficult for me, but boots are a close runner-up.

We have the same size shoe and calves! Sometimes I feel bad for the boys at the gym when I see them working on their teeny calf muscles and I’m walking around with these monsters. I think jeans are probably the hardest to shop for because I’m so short (5 ft) and while I do love my heels I also want to have the option to wear flats and jeans usually looked BAD after hemming them.
Haha! Me too. I find that most petites fit me fine so I actually have never had any jeans hemmed.
LOVE the boots! I agree, finding the right pair of boots is so hard! They are either not the right color, height or waaaaaayyyy too expensive.
Thank you! I was pleasantly surprised that these boots were pretty affordable and on sale.
Double score.
I love that outfit!
OY – I have so many problems with clothes! I think the hardest is pants in general – I have 35 inch inseam, which I love (can you complain about having long legs??) but it’s SO hard to shop for pants. Most stores don’t carry their longs in the store (Grrr), so thank goodness for Gap – but their choices can be so boring!
Then there are shoes. I wear an 11 and I can usually find 1 pair of the fugliest shoes in existence when I go shopping. I do have to (embarrassingly) say that I’ve had good luck with ShoeDazzle lately though!! I’ve got a few pairs of wedges and boots and get so many compliments (you just have to look past of their stripper heels). Oh, I have tiny calves so I’ll take your size 6 calves any day!
I love those boots! They are so cute!
I have difficulty buying all types of clothes I feel like! I’m only 4’11 so EVERYTHING is always too long on me and I wear a size 3 shoe in kids… sometimes i can stretch my toes and be a size 5
Either way I have a really hard time finding the perfect heel or boot that I want.
My best friend is 4’11″! I wish she lived closer to me like she did in high school so we could share clothes again. It was nice having 2X the clothes.
Oooooo I so love those boots as well. I have been looking for a pair of flat brown boots forever, but can’t ever make a decision! Good choice for sure!
Jeans/pants for sure are the hardest for me. I have bigger thighs and hips but not really a big butt so I get a lot of saggy butt pants.
I feel ya! I’m once size in my butt and thighs and then could really use a smaller size for my waist in most pants. More places should offer custom pants. Guys have it so easy with their standard waist and inseam measurements.
Jealous!!!
Thank goodness summer dresses are in!
I have the MOST awful time finding cute shorts… still try to get rid of the soccer quad muscles; the quad to hip ratio is a mess!
I think muscles are awesome! Have you tried the shorts that are a little fuller. Like these? http://www.modcloth.com/shop/shorts/my-cuff-of-tea-shorts Modcloth has some precious shorts. And now I can’t stop thinking about summer wear.
Great outfit! I’m 5’10″ and smaller sizes were not made for tall people. Pants are the most difficult for me. The length and rise is usually what gets me every time! Although at least clothiers got smart and created long lengths…growing up as the tall kid meant I always wore high-waters
Aw, they really should make longer lengths for kids too!
These boots are so cute! I love the color.
Jeans are definitely the hardest thing for me to shop for – always tight in the thighs and gapping around the waist and butt….always a challenge….

This is why they should make custom jeans or at least jeans for different body types. I guess some stores like Banana and Gap kind of do that already…but I don’t think they really make that evident. You kind of have to try them on to figure it out, which is why I wear different sizes in the same brands.
Fab new boots and they look very versatile- dress ‘em down with jeans or dress ‘em up for a night out! The hardest thing for me to shop for is pants… My legs are 2/3 of my body and my torso is so short- it’s so hard to find them in stores and I’m always a little apprehensive to order clothes online if I haven’t tried them on
Exactly! That’s precisely why I love them. I’m a big online shopper. I usually stick to brands I really know and often wait until I can get to the mall to buy pants/jeans. Shirts and dresses are typically easy online buys for me.
Hey Kelly, I really love those boots!!! I have the same problem as you, big calves!!!! Doesn’t matter what my weight is, my calves never change. Did you order those on-line or did you buy them at the store? I would rather try them on first, but if not, I guess I can send back if they don’t fit. Defintely boots are the hardest to buy.
I tried them on at the Baker’s Store at a local mall and then I ordered them. They didn’t have the size I wanted at the store and I found an online coupon code which allowed me to purchase them at a slightly cheaper price than I would have paid if I bought them in the store. Most stores have pretty good return policies but before you order anything, you should check it out to see what the window of exchange is. Sometimes they have 30 day (or less!) limits for returns in order to get your money back.
I’ve got news for you sweetie, you got those calves from me, Lord help you-you’re still beautiful!!
