Britney, Candace, and I

On Thursday night last week, my best friend Candace and I went to the Britney Spears concert.

Candace actually met Britney Spears back when we were in high school, about a month before Hit Me Baby One More Time came out on the radio, when Britney was signing autographs at our local mall.

So when tickets to the show came out on Groupon last month, I didn’t think twice about who I should call to go with me.  Candace was the obvious choice 1) because she’s my very best friend in the whole world and 2) because Britney songs remind me of the early years of our friendship.

Before the show, we met up with Michelle and Jen at Cosmos for a drink and some dinner.

We were hopeful that the four of us would be able to sit together, despite our seats not being together.  But Time Warner Cable Arena was packed out.  We were about halfway up — pretty decent seats.

Of course, we took the opportunity to be completely goofy while waiting for the show to start.

Can you see my fillings? 😉

The first opening act was two beautiful blondes called Destinee and Paris.  Very poppy, but pretty entertaining.  The danced, sang, and one of them even played the piano.

Next up was Pauly D of Jersey Shore Fame.

I love Pauly D as much as the next girl, but I don’t really understand the point of going to see a DJ in concert.  He was only mildly entertaining.  But I bet he would be fun to go see in a club, if I could manage to stay awake after 11 pm.

Finally, Britney came out after waiting 40 minutes after Pauly D’s act.

She put on a great show, albeit a little scandalous.

Before the show started, Candace and I discussed how young is too young to be at a show like this.  Having never seen her in concert before this, we guessed 12.

About midway through the show, we changed our mind.  Maybe I’m a bit conservative, but she was quite scandalous.  Highly entertaining, mind you, but definitely PG-13.

I wish I could have gotten better photographs, but they have limits to the size of lens that can be brought into shows like this.  Not that I have a super fancy zoom lens in the first place.

Hopefully you can at least see that the show was quite a production.

The people who attended the show were almost as entertaining as Britney herself.  People were dancing in the aisles with complete strangers.  It was awesome.

I had such a wonderful time with Candace.  I feel so lucky to have such a good friend that I share so many coming-of-age memories.  I hope we never get too old for stuff like this. 🙂

Something tells me that even if we do, we won’t let that stop us.
