Weekend fun mid-week

I snacked on some cocoa almonds on my way home from work yesterday.  I just couldn’t resist these when I saw them on sale at Target.  But after looking at the ingredient list, I’m convinced that I should really try my hand at making them myself.  Why do these things have more than almonds + cocoa + pinch of salt and sugar?  Anything more just seems unnecessary.

After work, I ran by the condo to change clothes, swung by Harris Teeter for a bottle of white wine and a movie, then headed over to Jenn’s house for dinner and girl’s night.

Jenn made a beautiful, Asian-inspired salad.

Isn’t it gorgeous?  The dressing had an almond butter and sesame oil base with rice vinegar, Sriracha sauce, Bragg’s amino acid, and probably some more delicious stuff I’m not remembering.

Emily, who happens to be Jenn’s boyfriend’s sister, brought over edamame which I dominated.  I believe these were sprinkled with a bit of cayenne powder.  Yum!  I should do this too instead of using salt for flavoring.

What a beautiful spread!  We had plans to watch one of the movies I brought, but unfortunately all of us girls were technologically challenged and we could never get the DVD to work.

In reality, I think this worked out perfectly.  You can get to know someone so much better just chatting and that’s exactly what we did.

I had a great time hanging out with Emily and Jenn.  Jenn was a wonderful hostess.  I love dong fun things mid-week. I need a little bit of weekend fun to break up the monotony of the habitual workdays.

How do you bring the fun back to weekdays?  Or do you prefer to save your fun for the weekend?
