Breakfast on the go

I typically work from home on Fridays, but had to go in for a meeting this morning.  Somehow the morning slipped away from me and I didn’t have time to eat breakfast at home.

These are the days I’m most appreciative of portable breakfasts.

I grabbed a Cool Mint Chocolate Clif Bar, an apple, and a 3/4 oz. wedge of goat brie, plus coffee with skim milk.

Brad was super sweet to help me by putting my coffee in a travel mug and finding plastic ware containers as I hurriedly packed my lunch.

I haven’t had a regular Clif bar in forever and it’s been an eternity since I had the Cool Mint Chocolate flavor.  I really love the soft texture of Clif bars and this one was really good, but surprisingly, I think I like the fruit flavors of Clif bars over the chocolate flavors.  Shocking, I know.  😉

I will not miss this 1 hour and 10 minute commute to work each day.  I cannot wait until work is just a few blocks away.  I don’t have a start date for my new job yet because it’s contingent up on my background check and drug test, but I do have an end date for my current job: March 8.   Eleven workdays and counting.

I’ve mentioned here and there about my recent stomach issues since I ran the Disney Marathon last month.  I have no idea if the marathon contributed to my weird pains, but I’m happy to report that I haven’t been experiencing them for over a week.  When I was at Whole Foods in Raleigh an employee helped me pick out a probiotic. Since I have been taking them consistently (it took me a few days to get in the habit), I have felt much much better.

I don’t know if probiotics are right for everyone, but right now I’m standing by mine as the solution to my stomach woes.  I’ve never had these kind of issues before, but I’m so glad to say they’re under control right now.  However, if you have any food allergies and are considering taking probiotics, I recommend doing your homework and even possibly checking your doctor.  My mom had a bad reaction to the probiotic she took recently and had to go to the emergency room, because she swelled and her throat started to close.  I have a feeling it was somehow related to one of her food allergies and something in the probiotic.  So be cautious if you’re thinking about trying probiotics.
