Something old something new

My breakfast was like a bride this morning.  It had something old, something new, something blue…eh, okay I skipped the something borrowed.

The something new: I tried Bob’s Red Mill 5 Grain Rolled Cereal this morning.  Their website says “it’s like oatmeal, only better”.  The five grains in the mix are rolled whole wheat, rye, oats, flax seed, barley, and triticale.  In case you are wondering (I know I was) triticale is a hybrid grain of wheat and rye.

My something old: pun’kin!

I reached far back into my cupboard and found a can of pumpkin.  Pumpkin season is long gone, but as long as there is still pumpkin in my house, it’s going to show up here in some form or fashion.

In my oats 5 grain rolled cereal:
1/3 cup Bob’s Red Mill 5 Grain Rolled Cereal
1/3 cup almond milk
1/3 cup water
1/4 cup pumpkin
1/2 sliced banana
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
pinch of salt

I went a little topping crazy this morning:
~1 Tbsp. unsulfured shredded coconut
~1 Tbsp. Nature’s Path Pumpkin Flax Granola
1 Tbsp. sweet potato butter (my pumpkin went bad! :()
1 Tbsp. sunflower seed butter

My something blue: Isn’t it obvious?

Monday morning calls for using your nice dishes, because Monday morning needs all the help it can get.

Brad has only been on one 1-day business trip in the past several weeks and even that morning he stuck around for breakfast before flying to Florida and back in one day.  I’ve gotten so  used to making coffee for two that I really messed up coffee for one this morning.  I put in one heaping Tbsp. of coffee in the French press as usual, but then filled it with way too much water.  I was stuck with watery coffee.  🙁

How do you making Monday morning just a little bit better?
