9 miles short and a giveaway

I had every intention of facing the cold and running my last 20 miles this morning.  I just bought UnderArmour Cold Gear tights last week for such an occassion.  It was 37 degrees and an 80% chance of showers this afternoon, but I was still planning to go at midday.

Then, this happened…

So to the treadmill I went…for. 20. miles.  I even downloaded a book (P.S. I Love You), which someone had recommended to me recently.

But, it was so not good.  Not. Good.  I felt really bad about five miles in.  I had horrible indigestion, no doubt from all of the sugar I consumed yesterday, and the last week for that matter.  I didn’t eat a real meal last night, just some appetizers and cookies and I paid for it on the treadmill.

At mile 11, I quit.  I just couldn’t do anymore.

I went back upstairs to the condo and laid on the ground until Brad returned from walking Rascal and told me I shouldn’t be so hard on myself.  There were tears.  I felt awful that I didn’t finish.  This 20 miles is so important to me in making sure I’m ready for this marathon in January.

But, I’m over it.  I’m not going to feel bad about it.  I’m letting it go.

I’m trying again for 20 miles on Thursday.  We will be at Brad’s parents where it’s nice and flat.  It’s going to be a cold 40 degrees as the high, but a sunny forecast is better than a snowy one.

Now onto something more fun.  As promised, I’m hosting a giveaway starting….

Remember this really cool top from Alo?

Well, one of you can win it!  Trust me, you want this top.  It’s so comfortable and cute.  I just know you’ll love it. 🙂

You can get up to three entries by doing the following things:

1st entry: “Like” Alo’s Facebook page.

2nd entry: Follow me AND Alo on Twitter.

3rd entry: If you have a blog, link to foodiefresh.com on your blog roll.

So I know how many entries you get, please leave me a comment to let me know if you did any of the things above to get an entry.  You have to do at least the first entry task to get any entries.  Capiche?

I’m sorry my foreign friends, Alo requires that all winners be a U.S. citizen.  🙁

I’ll pick a winner on Wednesday morning.  Good luck!

11 miles on a treadmill is pretty bad-ass. I can’t imagine doing 20 on it! I hope your run goes better on Thursday. 40 degrees won’t be so bad if you dress right. What race are you doing, anyway? I liked Alo on Facebook.

I added you to my blogroll. My other comment seems to not be showing up on your site, but I liked them on facebook too.

I got both of your comments…not sure why it wouldn’t show up for you. Maybe it’s just slow? Thanks Lee!

Don’t worry about the 20 even if you don’t get it in on Thursday. It’s better to be 10% undertrained than 1% overtrained. 40 degrees may sound cold, but those tights and the right top will keep you plenty warm. I ran today in 11 degrees and was nice and warm (well, I did have icicles on my eyelashes) and I hate winter!
Also, I liked Alo on FB. Very cool top!

First off, I like the comment exchange between you and Brad. Supportive man but probably not the best clothing choice for him…

I like Alo on Facebook. Unfortunately I don’t do Twitter or have my own blog…so this is all!
